La migrazione dei limicoli alla Foce dell’Entella (GE) - anno 2016

Andrea Simoncini

Abstract - Waders migration at Entella mouth (GE). Migrating waders at the mouth of Entella river were studied during a year-round period through daily censuses. Surveys were carried out during the months of March, April, May, August, September, October and November 2016. Species and numbers of individuals were marked down. Sources of human disturbance were also noted. A total of 27 species belonging to 6 families (mostly Scolopacidae and Charadriidae) and 708 individuals were counted. The author found 9 species of remarkable conservation interest included in Annex 1 of the Bird Directive (09/147/CE), namely Black-winged Stilt, Avocet, Eurasian Stone-Curlew, Collared Pratincole, Kentish Plover, Golden plover, Ruff, Bar-tailed Godwit, Wood Sandpiper. Most of human disturbance was due to photography, fishing, bathing and dogs as well. This study aims to highlight the importance of the area as a stop-over site for migratory waders following the eastern-Tyrrhenian flyway. The knowledge of migrating patterns of waders in the area will help protecting them from direct human disturbance and environmental human impact.

Marcello Bottero

Abstract: New breeding site of Red-rumped Swallow Cecropis daurica (Laxmann, 1769) in Liguria (NW Italy). Data on a new breeding site in Liguria of Red-rumped Swallow (Cecropis daurica) in the year 2013 is reported; it is the third known for our region. Very interesting the fact that the site has been used for several years and that breeding took place successfully even in 2014 and 2016.
